Easy Tips to Make Your Life Healthier

The world is full of illnesses. One day you are great, the next, you contract something like the flu. Diseases like viruses can make a lot of people’s lives really difficult. The H1N1 outbreak in 2009, or the ongoing outbreak of the SARS-CoV-2, or rather, the coronavirus 2019, often called COVID-19, can make people’s lives a living hell, especially those who are not infected but are in quarantine zones, meaning all non-essential travel should not be done. Resistance to virus attacks can be created through vaccinations and an infection from such a virus can be easier if your immune system is stronger. Living a healthier life means that your immune system should be fine, for most of the time. Here are a couple of tips on how to live a healthier life.

Sleep More – Sleep Consistently

It is pretty normal for most adults, especially young adults, in their 20s, to sleep less than recommended. This is pretty bad, because our immune systems, among other things, are under stress when we are not sleeping well. Our bodies have fewer resources and are more strained. If we add exercise to the equation, which we definitely should, being sleep deprived is one of the worst things that can happen to us, in the long run.

In order to sleep better, one should try and sleep during the night, because during that time, our bodies naturally produce melatonin, which regulates our sleep and wake cycle. Blue light disturbs that cycle, meaning screens, computer and mobile. Turning your phone off is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Meditating before bed is a great idea, because deep and slow breaths can relax the body. A tea made out of valerian root, chamomile, as well as other relaxing herbs, can help us sleep more. Sleeping is only a part of the equation.

Nutrition – You Are What You Eat

This is a rather simple but extremely complicated part. You are what you eat. If you primarily eat processed sugars, you will be very unhealthy, in so many ways. Chips, chocolates, all things which come in packages which are not vegetables or meat, are often really bad for you.

Having great nutrition means eating food which is full of nutrients, obviously. Lots of various fruits and vegetables are recommended, as well as meat if you are not vegan or vegetarian. Dairy products are also on the table. Supplements should come last, only if you absolutely need them and if you are deficient despite eating properly. Cheat days are definitely allowed, but don’t try to cheat yourself into thinking that processed food and a ton of pills will leave you healthy.

Exercise – Whatever You Like – Do it Regularly

Our bodies love cycles. If you exercise, no matter which kind (unless it is the kind which hurts your body with improper form, looking at you, CrossFit), and you are doing it regularly, your body will be thankful, as well as your brain. A feeling of confidence, better circulation, a lower blood pressure, healthier lungs, elastic muscles, regulated body weight, faster metabolism, are just a few things you could do for yourself with regular exercise.

Less Stress – More Self Love

Stress can cause much harm, from forgetting to do the healthy things your body will love, to actually becoming depressed and ruining one’s life. Finding the source of stress and learning how to deal with it is an essential part of the process of removing stress. Stress will always find a way, yet we must learn to deal with it, by knowing ourselves.

These are but a few tips to make your life healthier. They are simple, yet crucial. Love yourself, take control of your own health!
