The National Commission for Health Education Credentialing has designated DHPE as a Multiple Event Provider of Category I continuing education contact hours (CECH) for certified health education specialists (CHES). As such, we are able to offer CHES an array of free or low cost continuing education offerings. Moreover, you can earn credit for most of these offerings from your home or office and can access the offerings through this website.

Category I CECHs are available through providers like DHPE. When you look at the Distance Learning section of this website, you'll find a list of offerings available for CECH. For each offering you will need to order or download the material, complete the activity, fill in the forms accompanying each offering (registration, assessment and evaluation forms) and return all forms to DHPE as directed.

DHPE reports the activities of its continuing education participants to NCHEC quarterly. For accurate timely reporting you should return the necessary forms to DHPE within two weeks of completing the offering. CHES may also gain Category II CECHs for taking part in professional development activities that are not offered by providers. You may report your Category II activities directly to the NCHEC using a Category II Claim Form* [PDF File, 57 Kb]. To find out more about CHES, please refer to the NCHEC.
