Congratulations to our DHPE fellow Patrice Perkins, PhD candidate from Virginia State University, who defended her dissertation on Friday June 15. The title of her dissertation is "The Effects of Time Perspective, Smoking, and Socioeconomic Status on Susceptibility to Illness in African American College Students.” Ms. Perkins is conducting her fellowship at the Virginia Department of Health, Office of Minority Health and Health Equity. Her work focuses on environmental health and community engagement.
Francis Reyes, a former summer 2011 intern has accepted a Health Communications Internship at the National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute in the Center for Global Health. This program attracts highly qualified graduate students and recent graduate degree recipients interested in careers in health communications and science writing.
Eva Olivas, also a former intern from Fall 2011 has been hired by her internship site, the El Paso Diabetes Association, as their Marketing Coordinator this past February!
