NANA Group on Healthy Public Places (HPP) - first call on June 28th at 1:30 PM EST
Monday, June 18, 2012
from the NANA Coalition, DHPE forwarding to members for participation...
building on some initial NANA work around procurement to form a NANA group to
work on model vending machine standards for foods and beverages as part of a
Healthy Public Places (HPP) movement. The name Healthy Public Places is
replacing the term procurement as it better encompasses implementation of
policies that increase the availability and accessibility of healthy food and
beverage options in public venues. These public venues include government
buildings, highway rest stops, prisons, public hospitals, parks and recreation
facilities, senior programs, libraries, universities and colleges, and
Co-Chairs, we encourage you to participate on this group to review draft model
vending machine standards and create a final model to be shared as a resource.
The group will meet initially by phone and via email, starting in June 2012.
The group will evolve with the need to create other models, including a model
state/local vending bill, a conferences and meetings policy that includes
physical activity breaks, etc. We are starting with vending since there is
interest and activity from states, counties, cities and other locales.
