A new report from the National Association of County & City Health Officials (NACCHO) finds that 57 percent of local health departments reduced or eliminated services in at least one program area in 2011.   These cuts affected 65 percent of the U.S. Population.   And it’s not getting any better -- fully 38 percent of affected local health departments lost at least 10 percent of their budget over the past fiscal year.
