Avoiding Predicted Rise in Obesity Rates Over 20 Years Could Save Country Almost $550 Billion

A new study predicts that approximately 42 percent of adults will be obese by 2030, an increase from the 36 percent who were obese in 2010. Preventing such a rise in obesity rates over the next 20 years could save the country nearly $550 billion in medical costs during that timeframe. Researchers at RTI International conducted the study, which was published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
