Earlier this week, Senate leaders passed a "motion to proceed," opening debate on different repeal options for the Affordable Care Act (ACA). They are now one big step closer to actually repealing and replacing ACA—gutting healthcare coverage and ripping away prevention funding from millions of Americans.

It's likely that the Senate will vote on the so-called 'skinny' repeal bill in the coming days. If passed, the bill would decimate critical components of the ACA, and eliminate the Prevention and Public Health Fund, a landmark fund that invests in proven strategies to prevent chronic and infectious diseases in communities across the country, and currently makes up 12% of CDC's budget. It would leave 16 million Americans without healthcare.

This is unacceptable—that's why we've joined in with other public health leaders in a new call to protect health and prevention (see the full text here). But we need your help:

• Call the Senate Switchboard at (202) 224-3121: Tell your senators to vote NO on ACA repeal, and urge them to protect the Prevention and Public Health Fund. See our tips, talking points and priority legislators.
• Send a tweet: .@phidotorg @publichealth @HealthyAmerica1 @preventioninst & @SOPHEtweets say no to ACA repeal, stand w prevention:
Forward this email widely.

We know many of you have been involved already in contacting your senators and sharing calls to action with your networks. It's critical that we keep up the pressure. Thank you.
