Delaware public health professionals complete Shaping Policy for Health™ program

Public health staff from the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services completed the last of DHPE's 5 skill-basedShaping Policy for Health™ courses last week. Fred Breukelman, DHPE voting member for Delaware and Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee, also participated. The training program covers professional competencies public health professionals need in creating policy, systems, and environmental changes that promote health. The Shaping Policy for Health™ Competency-Based Training was developed under a Cooperative Agreement between the Directors of Health Promotion and Education and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, and in partnership with the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Enhancements to the program are underway and include re-branding the name to Systems Change for Health.
