Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) Inviting Comments for Accreditation Changes

The Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) is inviting comments on proposed changes to its accreditation process through March 31. To participate, go to opened. PHAB’s plan is to release a revised Guide to National Public Health Department Accreditation in summer 2015.  There is no plan to change the overall accreditation process but PHAB is considering several adjustments to streamline steps and ensure efficiency. Proposed changes include: 

  • Including additional steps in the PHAB Readiness Checklists to ensure that health agencies are prepared to seek accreditation when they apply.
  • Changing the way that PHAB manages the prerequisites for accreditation.
  • Implementing new extension and inactive status policies.
