Includes increase for Chronic Disease and Health Promotion at CDC
Congress posted a final FY 2015labor-HHS spending package that includes an increase for CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion activities and provides funding through September 30, 2015.

In a bill that provides largely flat funding for most domestic programs, this small increase is welcome news and evidence that advocating for prevention and amelioration of the burden of chronic diseases is being heard.
Both the House and Senate need to vote to approve this bill in the next few days. Early indications are that it is expected to pass, although another very short-term continuing resolution may be necessary to allow enough time for consideration, and other unforeseen snags are possible. If this does not happen, then another government shutdown would occur.
