NDD Town Hall: Continued Threats to Discretionary Spending (and What to Do About It)
July 8, 2014
10:00 – 11:30 am
National Education Association
1201 16th St NW, Main Auditorium
Washington, DC 20036
Note: Call-In Capability Unavailable

Threats to discretionary spending persist, as fiscal 2015 winds down and the Bipartisan Budget Act’s partial sequestration relief expires. In addition, calls for a Constitutional Convention to enact a broad range of restrictions on federal authority—a Balanced Budget Amendment (BBA), among them—are gaining traction across states (see attached). A constitutional amendment to require the federal government to balance its budget each year would have a devastating impact on all federal spending. And you thought sequestration was bad…

During this NDD Town Hall, experts from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) will share more information about the BBA movement across states, what it means for federal programs, and what organizations can do to join the fight. They will also share more about the current fiscal environment and what lies ahead for the fiscal 2015 appropriations process and beyond.

Members of the NDD United Steering Committee will provide an update on past and planned activities—including a new sign on opportunity—to end this era of austerity.

Please feel free to share this invitation with your colleagues.
