On Tuesday, June 10, the Labor HHS Subcommittee of the
Appropriations Committee in the Senate marked up the Labor HHS appropriations
bill. It still needs to go to the full committee and then to the Senate
before it goes to committee with a companion bill from the House. The
full committee discussion was scheduled for Thursday, but has been postponed.
The Senate subcommittee proposed budget for Chronic Disease
and Health Promotion at CDC was $29,940,000 more than the enacted amount for
2014 and $137,984,000 more than the amount requested by the
administration. The $1,215,941,000 total amount in the bill includes both
regular budget and Prevention Funds money. This is unlikely to stand, but
is the first set of numbers to be proposed.
