DHPE and NACDD were invited to represent the states’
perspective as part of a symposium celebrating 25 years of the National Center
for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP) at the US
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). All the previous and
current NCCDPHP Center directors shared the podium with DHPE’s representative
Johnnie “Chip” Allen and NACDD’s representative Sue Grinnell. In his two
minute presentation, Chip emphasized the importance of partnerships between
state and federal health agencies and the need of the 21st Century
work force for the types of skills that health educators and health promotion
specialists bring (generalist, flexible, policy, systems, and health equity).
On the panel were Dr. Ursula Bauer, Dr. Jeffrey Koplan, Dr. James Marks, Dr.
Janet Collins, and Chip Allen and Sue Grinnell.
