Funding Announcements

  • The Health Impact Project, a collaboration of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and The Pew Charitable Trusts, has announced a call for proposals "to fund health impact assessments, or HIAs, and the establishment of sustainable, self-supporting HIA programs to more routinely integrate health into public policy decision-making." A call for proposals (CFP), "will support government and tribal agencies and educational and nonprofit organizations under the two types of grants." To register for a March 5th webinar on HIA demonstration projects and/or for a March 6th webinar on HIA program grants.
  • The National Recreation and Park Association is announced the availability of grants to support children's health through park and recreation out-of-school time programs. The grants "will be used to increase the number of healthy meals received by children in low-income communities, create behavior change through health literacy, and implement nutrition and physical activity standards. To learn more and to apply.

Action Alert

  • Smart Growth America is urging support for the Safe Streets Act, introduced last week in the Senate, explaining that, "The bill would make Complete Streets strategies a routine consideration for all federally funded road projects. The Act wouldn't require these features, but would rather encourage engineers to consider this approach when building a road." To click on their action alert
