The Summer of 2013 was “Hot” for Shaping Policy for Health™ (SPH™) Trainings
Friday, August 30, 2013
Just in case you were wondering if SPH™ had a training in your state this summer, here is a recap. Twenty-two (22) trainings were conducted between June 1 and August 31, 2013 in 14 states! Among those, five (5) states had their first SPH™ trainings (Florida, Nevada, Missouri, Louisiana and Illinois). Three (3) of our new states had back-to-back trainings, Florida, Missouri and Illinois. Ohio took the prize for having the most trainings this summer (4), with other states being Washington, Wyoming, Oregon and Utah along with our "high burden” states (Alabama, Mississippi and Arkansas).
The SPH™ National Cadre of Trainers had two great opportunities to meet each other face-to-face, the Training of Trainers (ToT) in Washington, DC for Course 4: Implementing Enacted Policies (http://dhpe.site-ym.com/?page=Programs_SPHDomain4) in June and the DHPE Annual Membership Meeting in Minneapolis, MN in August.
At the face-to-face SPH™ trainer meeting, we had a team building exercise lead by one of our trainers Jacqueline Coleman. (See below)
We also said farewell to one our original trainers Kitty Jerome (pictured on the left below with her long time co-trainer Gloria Latimer) who will be beginning her new career in Wisconsin. She trained over 31 courses from October 1, 2012 to August 12, 2013!
If you have not had a SPH™ course in your state yet, or have not had one lately, please contact the DHPE Training and Marketing Director, Doreleena Sammons-Posey at firstname.lastname@example.org or (202) 659-2248.
