DHPE Makes a March “Madness” Visit to Florida

On Tuesday, March 26, 2013, DHPE staff had an opportunity to meet with staff from the Florida Department of Health in the state’s capital Tallahassee. Doreleena Sammons-Posey provided an overview of DHPE and the Shaping Policy for Health™ training program and Karen Thompkins provided an update on the Internship and Fellowship Programs. Susan Fleming, Administrator for the Cancer Program, hosted the meeting.

On Wednesday, March 27, 2013, DHPE’s interns had a chance to attend the Introductory Shaping Policy for Health™ Course, hosted by Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU). The 28 attendees included DHPE interns, fellows, preceptors and 8 Florida DOH staff. The trainers were Karma Edwards (from Florida) and Alvin Dawson (from Texas).
