Three DHPE members participated
in a Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) think tank to revisit the Health
Education and Health Communications standard (Domain 3) included in
accreditation requirements. DHPE Board member Danielle Kenneweg (WA),
DHPE's Health Equity Committee Chair Chip Allen (OH), and DHPE's Executive
Director Susan Goekler brought the voice of health educators, state health
agencies, and health equity specialists to the 13-person meeting. The
original standards did not address social media, which was a major topic of
discussion. DHPE members will have a chance to vet the draft revised
standards that come from the Think Tank's input this summer or fall.
PHAB is recruiting peer
reviewers to be part of site visit teams. PHAB covers expenses and
provides training, but does not provide compensation. If you are
interested in being considered as a PHAB Site visitor, let Susan Goeklerknow and she will
forward your name.
