DHPE Intern Eddie Davenport Accomplishing His Goals

It is always good to hear about the success of former DHPE interns. Eddie Davenport is a former intern in the spring 2012 internship program.

Eddie DavenportEddie's DHPE internship was in the Office of Preventive Health at the Mississippi State Department of Health. He worked with local officials and the Jackson Public School district on the National Safe Routes to School Programs which also supported his Master's thesis. In the spring of 2012, Eddie received a Master of Public Health Degree from Jackson State University.

Eddie is taking the next step in accomplishing his goals. He was awarded a full fellowship to further his education at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. Eddie is a first year doctoral student in Health Education at Southern Illinois University. He is a member of the Black Graduate Student Association and Eta Sigma Gamma, a national Health Education professional organization.

Eddie believes that "One must not follow where the path may lead, but instead go where there is no path and leave a trail for others to follow”. His philosophy in life is to allow your free mind to expand on the opportunities that are presented.
