Received via email from OS/OASH...

Dear Colleague,

The Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Agriculture (USDA) are pleased to announce their intent to establish the 2015 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (DGAC) and to invite nominations for the Committee. The Federal Register notice, published October 26, 2012, can be found at .

The DGAC, once chartered, will examine the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans; conduct a series of systematic reviews to evaluate available evidence (assisted by the USDA Nutrition Evidence Library); and analyze the evidence and weigh its quality to support conclusions to diet and health research questions on which to base recommendations for healthy eating, which will culminate in a report submitted to the Secretaries of HHS and USDA during the fall/winter of 2014. Over the course of its appointment, the Committee is expected to convene five meetings, with the intent of the first occurring in April 2013. The Committee's science-based recommendations and rationale will serve as a basis for developing the eighth edition of the Federal policy known as the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

Prospective members of the DGAC should be knowledgeable of current scientific research in human nutrition and be respected and published experts in their fields.
