Oklahoma was the site of two Introduction to the Policy Change Process SPH ™ trainings on August 29th and 30th. Neil Hann, Chief of Community Development Service at the Oklahoma State Department of Health, hosted the trainings for 40 participants on the 29th and 50 on the 30th. Both the obesity and the tobacco modules were utilized and well received by the participants who were a mix of state, county and city health departments, Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET), Oklahoma State University, Osage and Cherokee Nations, Turning Point and other grantees under TSET. TSET tobacco and nutrition and physical activity grantees were active participants with a lot to offer! The Director of Grants & Programs for TSET, Jonas Mata supported both days of the training.
Lance Thomas, Communications Coordinator with the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET), sitting to the right, stated that that there is "something in this training for all levels of participants”.
