The Directors of Health Promotion and Education (DHPE) LEAP: Lupus Education and Awareness for Patients, Professionals and Providers Program is hosting a webinar on Conducting Effective Lupus Support Groups – Virtually or Face-to-Face by Hetlena Johnson, Chief Volunteer Officer, Lupus Foundation of America South Carolina Community Volunteer Partner at 3:30 pm EDT on Wednesday, October 5, 2016. This webinar offers 1 CHES credit.

This webinar will address the following learning objectives:
• To provide overview of support group based on a lupus patient perspective
• To discuss how social support impacts the quality of life of someone diagnosed with lupus
• To discuss best practices of conducting support groups for lupus patients
• To explore the pros and cons of virtual support groups for lupus patients
• To provide resources for implementing effective lupus support groups

Health educators, public health professionals, health students, lupus patients, primary care providers and community health advocates are invited to participate in this one-hour educational webinar. The Lupus Support Groups Webinar is part of educational webinar series of the DHPE LEAP Program. LEAP's intention is to increase lupus health education and awareness of lupus to address health disparities.
