This two-part web-based training will focus on building spokesperson skills and messaging for program success. Part 1 will address preparing for an interview with the press, the importance of being an effective spokesperson and techniques and tips to use before, during, and after an interview. Part 2 will provide role playing opportunities to practice or observe what was covered in Part 1.

Lisa Tensuan is an associate director and experienced project director in Social Marketing and Communication (SMC) at FHI 360. She has over 14 years of experience on health communication campaigns and projects focusing on adults and providers including management, creative development, implementation, formative research, evaluation, grantee management, partnership outreach, and training and technical assistance. Ms. Tensuan is a registered nurse and has worked extensively in local public health departments, nursing homes, home care and sub-acute units, and adult day care centers, and has provided direct nursing care as well as functioned as unit managers and supervisors. She currently oversees the FHI 360 TA team on the CDC’s DCH Communication Support contract, conducting communication training and TA directly, as well as overseeing a team of staff that offers this support to approximately 90 currently funded CDC awardees.
Courtney Thompson is a marketing and communications officer in Social Marketing and Communication (SMC) at FHI 360 with over 6 years of experience working in behavior change and health communication. Ms. Thompson provides extensive training, technical assistance, earned media, materials development, and research support for a broad range of Federal agencies such as the CDC’s Division of Community Health, CDC Division of Diabetes Translation, and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) youth violence prevention projects.
