Are We There Yet -- How Will We Know If Health Care Reform Is Working? Using OSHPD Data to Track the Impact of the Affordable Care Act on Access to Primary Care
Wednesday, September 19
10:00 AM to 11:30 AM Pacific Daylight Time

As the Affordable Care Act (ACA) nears full implementation in 2014, the primary care system will need to make extensive changes to prepare for expanded service demands. Accurate data and clear metrics will be necessary for measuring progress and the impact that the ACA will have on access to care, quality and outcomes.

The California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) collects data from primary care clinics and hospital-based emergency departments that can be used as a baseline for measuring the impact of the ACA on access to primary care. This Web Forum will demonstrate how OSHPD data can be used by those planning and implementing health care reform.

Please join us for this interactive Web Forum that will provide information and insights on using OSHPD data to assess changes in the health care delivery system at this critical time.

The Web Forum will:
  • Summarize 51 metrics that have been recommended to measure the impact of ACA on health insurance coverage, affordability, and access to care in California;
  • Provide a 2010 profile and summarize five-year trend data for primary care clinics and hospital-based emergency departments in the state, including metrics on baseline utilization, patient demographics, and revenues; and
  • Describe strategies that primary care clinics are using to prepare for the full implementation of the ACA.
