Cross Agency Collaboration to Ensure a Healthy Learning
Environment for Students
April 24, 2012
- 3:00 pm ET
A climate conducive to learning is fundamental for all students. Nurturing and supportive interrelationships between school staff, teachers, students and their parents set the stage for developing this climate - one that promotes effective teaching and supports learning. Research has outlined that schools will either have a climate by design or by default. Fundamental to establishing a positive school climate though is ensuring that students feel safe both physically and emotionally in the school setting. This includes traveling safely to and from school; feeling safe inside the school grounds and being safe to learn inside each classroom. Students cannot learn if they do not feel safe. This webinar, Cross Agency Collaboration to Ensure a Healthy Learning Environment for Students, will be led by Sean Slade, Director Whole Child Programs at ASCD and Dr. Jonathan Cohen, Co-founder and President of NSCC, and will cover:
- Why a healthy learning environment is key;
- What is meant by positive school climate;
- Research on positive schools climate;
- Steps for establishing or improving a healthy learning environment; and
- Recommendations from the Expert panel.
