Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for a new Community Transformation Grant Small Communities Program

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued a funding opportunity announcement (FOA) for a new Community Transformation Grant Small Communities Program supported by the Prevention and Public Health Fund.  The program will make $70 million available over two years for communities with populations of up to 500,000.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will support 25 to 50 competitive grant awards. "Applicants specifically must demonstrate how they can improve the health of their communities through increasing the availability of healthy foods and beverages, improving access to safe places for physical activity, and reducing tobacco use and encouraging smoke-free environments.  To view the full FOA – grants.gov/search/search.do.  Overview of the program.  Letters of intent are due by June 18th, and full applications by July 31st.

A series of pre-application calls are scheduled for the Community Transformation Grant Small Communities Program.  All are on Monday, June 4th.   For Atlantic, Eastern and Central Time zones (10:00 – 11:30 a.m. EDT); Mountain and Pacific (1:00 – 2:30 p.m. EDT); Alaska and Hawaii-Aleutian (3:00 – 4:00 p.m. EDT); and Pacific Islands Territories and Jurisdictions (8:00 – 9:30 p.m. EDT).  All of the calls can be accessed by dialing 1-773-756-4793 or 1-800-857-2613, passcode 3555436.
