Public health initiatives are constantly adapted and improved to address emerging issues. The world becomes more complex as populations migrate, immigrate, change, and grow. Health promotion and health education are uniquely poised to create new programs or expand current ones to impact large populations – populations that are increasingly multicultural – to reduce major causes of death and disability and their risk factors. Population-based interventions are necessary to bring about social norm change and vibrant environments that support healthy people and communities and eliminate threats to society’s well being. Public health must have a new vision for effectiveness in our changing world. At no time has it been more important to share the lessons we have learned in order to build for the future. This conference will offer training, networking opportunities, and a wealth of information that all public health professionals need to continue quality public health initiatives.
